At Big Blue Saw, we want to give you the best service, the highest quality, and the most options you can find for laser cutting . Today, we're giving you more choices than ever before by adding 18 new styles of material designed for laser cutting and engraving.
These materials make wonderful durable signs, art objects, instrument panels, picture frames, keepsakes, and whatever else you can imagine. Read on for more details about the materials we're adding. In each case below, the primary color or style is listed first, followed by the secondary color, that is, the color revealed when the material is engraved. The secondary color is also the color on the back of the material. These colored plastics are all made from acrylic and are opaque except for the reverse-engravable materials. All styles have a matte finish on the primary color, except as noted.
The metallics all have a texture similar to brushed metal. These are an excellent economical alternative to using waterjet cut metal for decorative applications and instrument panels.
Reverse-engravable materials have a thin colored cap of material underneath a thicker clear layer. The engraved image is intended to be viewed through the clear layer. This makes cleaning the piece very easy and the engraving extremely durable, as it is never directly exposed to the environment. The engraved areas become translucent, so parts made of reverse engraved material are excellent for backlit applications.
White/Clear: this is actually the same material as the Clear/Navy Blue above, but we reverse the image when engraving this material so that it is intended to be viewed white-side first. If you look at the back of this a part made from this material, you would see the dark navy blue color.
The detail on the woodgrain designs is excellent. You have to look very carefully to tell that it's not real wood or veneer. They can be used in any project where a more earthy, natural look is desired.
