Our press release is up regarding Free Part Day on August 6, 2008.
Some details:
- We will have two stock materials/thicknesses available for making your part on Free Part Day: waterjet cut aluminum 6061 1/8 (0.125) inches thick and laser cut clear acrylic plastic, 0.118 inches thick.
- There is a limit of one design (DXF/PNG/GIF or Big Blue Saw Designer file) per customer.
- Designs are limited in size to 9" x 9".
- We reserve the right to reject designs that are too complex or can't be made on the waterjet or the laser. Roughly speaking, parts that will normally cost over about $8 each in quantity 1000 when ordered through the online quoting system are not eligible.
- You must pay the packaging and shipping costs.
- All orders must be completed through the online ordering process.
- Orders must be completed, including payment, on August 6, 2008.
- We reserve the right to refuse any free part day order.
- Keep in mind that the purpose of Free Part Day is to provide people with an introduction to Big Blue Saw's service. Please don't abuse this by attempting to go against the spirit in which this offer is made.
Start designing your parts now!
Updated 2008-07-23 with final material selection.
Updated 2008-07-28 with further clarifications on part complexity and terms.

We are happy to announce a new feature: My Files. If you are a registered user and are logged in, any file you're working on in the Big Blue Saw Designer will automatically be saved to My Files.
This benefits you in several ways:
- You can refine a design when you need to. You can come back days or weeks later to make a modification to
your design.
- You can download your file to work with the offline version of Big Blue Saw Designer.
- You can upload files to be stored on our server. Your files will go whereever you do.

Big Blue Saw is now proud to add laser cutting to the services we offer. Just pick 0.118 inch thick clear acrylic plastic, and you'll be shown the prices for having your parts made with our laser cutting process instead of our usual waterjet cutting. The rates are generally much lower than our waterjet cutting prices, so check it out.
For the moment, we only offer laser cutting on thin acrylic plastic, but that will be changing soon. We'll have more details in the days to come, including photos of sample parts.

We've updated our onlne quoting system to be a lot smarter when it comes to handling your uploaded DXF files. A lot of files that didn't work correctly before now will. And if the quoting system still has problems with your file, we've added a diagnostic page to show you where it's getting confused.
